A Home With Great Bones and Serious Untapped Potential
This Reno home wasn’t falling apart. It just wasn’t working.
Vaulted wood ceilings and a dramatic stone fireplace gave the space character, but the kitchen was undersized, the layout felt disconnected, and the finishes locked the home in another era. The great room lacked purpose, the mechanical systems were aging, and the flow didn’t reflect how the homeowners needed the space to serve them.
The goal was a reset.
M&G Construction reworked the layout, upgraded core systems, replaced windows and doors, and rebuilt the kitchen and bathrooms with a clear plan.
Now the house works. The layout makes sense, the systems are reliable, and nothing feels like a compromise.
The Kitchen: From Compressed To Commanding
Before the remodel, the kitchen felt small under a massive vaulted ceiling. It was a visual imbalance that made the cabinetry look dated and the workspace feel tight. The island was undersized. Storage was limited. The layout restricted movement.
So we rebuilt it.
New full-height cabinetry in a lighter finish reframed the space and brought proportion back under the ceiling. Granite countertops extend across expanded prep zones and wrap into a substantial seating peninsula, transforming the kitchen into the center of the home rather than just a pass-through.
A full-height granite backsplash, exterior-vented hood, new gas line, recessed lighting plan, and upgraded appliances weren’t aesthetic upgrades alone. They were functional decisions that improved how the space performs daily.
Now the ceiling feels intentional. The layout makes sense. And the kitchen finally matches the scale of the home.
Layout Reconfiguration
The original great room had square footage but no purpose. Converting it into a bedroom and laundry area gave the home flexibility and long-term functionality.
Bathroom Upgrades
Builder-grade finishes were replaced with full tile showers, patterned flooring, granite-topped vanities, and matte black fixtures. Clean lines and intentional lighting elevate both bathrooms without overcomplicating the design.
Windows & Exterior Doors
Six new windows and two double French doors dramatically improve natural light and exterior access. Updated automated blinds add comfort and efficiency.
Flooring & Finish Cohesion
New LVP flooring and 5.5” baseboards unify the entire home. Fresh texture, paint, hardware, and fixtures eliminate the piecemeal look and create visual consistency throughout.
Architectural Details
A hallway niche designed to mirror the existing arch detail subtly ties old character to new construction. It’s a small move that makes the remodel feel intentional rather than patched together.
Mechanical System Overhaul
A new furnace, AC system, and HVAC ducting bring the home up to modern performance standards. These upgrades aren’t flashy, but they matter every single day.
