From a Builder-Grade Bathroom to a Thoughtful Primary Suite

This project began when an older couple came to M&G Construction looking to refresh the original primary bathroom in their 2010-built Northwest Reno home.

The existing space had a separate shower and underused standalone tub, along with builder-grade finishes that looked fine, but weren’t anything special. Their biggest priority was removing the tub and creating a more modern, spacious walk-in shower while updating the whole bathroom with fresh finishes.

But before construction could begin, the homeowners needed help figuring out exactly what that new space should look like.

M&G developed a 3D concept so they could explore the layout, visualize the changes, and make more confident decisions. The design process became a key part of turning an initial idea for a “refresh” into a well-defined bathroom remodeling plan.

We reworked the tub-and-shower area into a more usable space with a private walk-in shower and a dedicated dry-off corner and brought together stone surfaces, warm tile, and soft pink walls for a finished space that feels both modern and timeless.

Bringing the Details Together

With the direction established, M&G worked with the homeowners to refine selections and finalize pricing while we prepared the project for construction. The couple selected accessories locally, while we handled the major material orders and offered options for approval along the way.

The materials were thoughtfully chosen to create a consistent look and feel throughout the bathroom. Large Bedrosians Magnifica Era Luxury Calacatta Borghini Field Tile lined the shower walls in a brick-joint pattern with Bedrosians Fossil Wood Tumbled Pebble Mosaic accents.

Golden Quartz slabs connect the vanity, backsplash, and waterfall-wrapped pony wall, bringing the separate areas of the bathroom together in a cohesive design.

Even with careful planning, there were some bumps along the way, as there often are when working within an existing home. Consistent communication on both sides and an engaged, flexible homeowner relationship helped our team work through those details while staying focused on workmanship and perfecting the finished result.

Now the couple’s primary bathroom meets their needs, allowing them to start and end every day with beauty, functionality, and style.
